What Are the Benefits of L-Isoleucine?

By William Leave a Comment

There are so many different supplements on the market, and it can make it difficult to determine which supplements you need and which ones you can do without.  L-isoleucine is one of the supplements that has been increasing in popularity over the past few years. It is a branched-chain amino acid, also known as a BCAA.  It is a crucial acid that your body needs to function properly.

If your body does not have enough l isoleucine, your body will tell you.  Many people with deficiencies in this essential acid have one or more of these symptoms:

  • fatigue
  • frequent headaches
  • irritability
  • depression
  • dizziness
  • confusion
  • diarrhea
  • dermatitis
  • visual impairment

The good news is that there are a lot of foods that are rich in this essential acid.  Some foods that you may want to add to your diet to boost your l isoleucine intake include:

  • fish
  • red meat
  • poultry
  • seaweed
  • nuts
  • cottage cheese

While there are certain foods that you can eat that may increase your l isoleucine levels, you may find that adding these foods to your diet simply doesn’t give you enough.  To get adequate amounts that your body needs to make up what it isn’t producing, you may want to take an oral supplement on a regular basis.  There are a lot of different products on the market for you to choose from.

Here are some of the benefits of taking l isoleucine supplements.

#1 – It Can Aide in Muscle Growth

If you are looking to build lean muscle mass, then l isoleucine may be a great supplement for you.  It helps when it comes to muscle tissue repair. If it is taken along with other BCAAs, it can help to enhance the anabolism and growth of your muscles.  This is ideal for bodybuilders, but it can also be great for those that just want to boost their muscle mass just a little bit.  It can also help to produce more energy within your muscles, giving you more fuel to run on while you are training.  Instead of simply leaving your muscle growth up to your protein shakes before and after a workout, why not consider taking lisoleucine to help speed up the process naturally.  It is a healthier approach than steroids or other unconventional methods of muscle building.

#2 – It Can Promote Healing

L-isoleucine can also really be great when it comes to healing.  If you have had an injury, then it can help you to heal faster.  It does this by promoting blood clotting, leading to faster recovery time.  It can also help torn or bruised muscles to heal faster.  It can also speed up healing by promoting faster skin cell healing, replacing damaged skin cells with newer skin cells faster.

#3 – It Can Regulate Blood Sugar

People with blood sugar issues have also benefited from this supplement.  This is ideal for those with hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar.  When your blood sugar is low, your body works hard to produce glucose energy.  This is a process called gluconeogenesis, and this supplement can aid in this process.  It can also convert itself into ketones, which help to give your body the energy that it needs.

#4 – It Can Help With Bone Growth and Development

Just about everyone knows that calcium is essential to bone growth and development, along with ongoing bone health.  Did you know that calcium is not the only thing that helps to promote better bone growth?  L-isoleucine can help as well.  It helps the body to better absorb the calcium that you take in.  It can not only help with growth, and is essential for children, but it can also help when it comes to healing broken bones.

#5 – It Can Benefit Your Circulatory System

Hemoglobin is a really important part of your blood.  It helps to transport the oxygen from your lungs to the various parts of your body that needs it.  It also helps to get the carbon dioxide back into your lungs so that it can be expelled when you breathe.  For your body to make this, you need to have l-isoleucine available.  If you do not have enough, then you may have lower hemoglobin levels.  This can have a lot of negative side effects, including anemia.  You may experience heart palpitations, shortness of breath, headaches, and other symptoms.

As you can see, this nutrient offers a variety of different health benefits for just about everyone – from bodybuilders to kids, to seniors, and everyone in between.  It may be found naturally in your diet, but sometimes it just isn’t enough.  This is true for picky eaters, so you may want to look into oral supplements.

Before you decide whether or not l-isoleucine is right for you, it is important to talk to your doctor about it.  It can be unsafe for some people.  If you have any impairments with your kidney or liver, it can make these conditions worse.  It can also lead to a higher release of insulin, so it is a good idea not to eat too much sugar or glucose if you are taking an l isoleucine supplement.
