Forskolin and Garcinia Cambogia are both natural supplements that aid in weight loss. Forskolin is a member of the mint family, a herb that has been used for hundreds of years in traditional medicine. More recently it has been used as a weight loss aid with some clinical success.
It works by preventing further weight gain, great for maintaining your weight once you reach your goal. It can even lower blood sugar and blood pressure and improve your overall health, not just your weight.
Garcinia Cambogia is a sour tasting fruit used in cooking in South Asian countries, but luckily you won’t have to eat this supplement. The active ingredient is found in the rind and studies have shown that it aids in weight loss. One study showed up to twelve pounds weight loss over twelve weeks, definitely encouraging and it also lowers cholesterol and stabilizes blood sugar.
With a routine of diet and exercise, both are going to help you lose weight and keep weight off which is definitely good news. But is it safe to take both supplements at the same time?
Is It Safe To Take Forskolin And Garcinia Cambogia Together?
While both are natural supplements, there are of course risks and side effects associated with both. The risk of Garcinia Cambogia is mostly to the liver. Too much can have a detrimental effect. So much so that the FDA issued a warning about a supplement containing the extract.
While it wasn’t sure whether the Garcinia Cambogia was the active ingredient that caused the problem, until more studies have been done it’s best to steer clear of this particular supplement if you have liver problems.
Forskolin effects the kidney, but not to the point that it can be dangerous to most healthy people. There have been no similar FDA warnings about any supplements containing it either.
The two are natural and choosing a brand of the two supplements with no added artificial chemicals or bulking agents is the best way to go in terms of getting and staying healthy. They don’t interact with one another in the body either which is the most important part.
The main problem with taking both of these supplements is going to be the side effects, as they do have similar ones. These will double up if you’re taking both. These include headaches, so if you’re prone to them it may not be best to take both. Another two side effects of the supplements include dizziness and lowered blood pressure, which can, in turn, cause more dizziness.
However, despite this, they are safe to take together as long as you’re not already on any other medication or supplements. Medications such as blood thinners, diabetes medications and medications that lower cholesterol all interact poorly with both Forskolin and Garcinia Cambogia. It’s always best to consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting any supplement.
The dosage taken in the clinical studies on Forskolin was 250mg twice a day of a 10% concentration of Forskolin. We advise following this same dose as it’s always best to side with the experts! Take one Forskolin supplement twice a day around thirty minutes before a meal – preferably before breakfast and your evening meal as these usually your biggest meals.
When it comes to Garcinia Cambogia, clinical trials studied different supplement strengths with success but most were conducted on 400mg to 500mg doses three times daily. There is nothing to say whether they should be taking before during or after meals. While it would be easier certainly to have the same routine when taking the Garcinia and Forskolin you can’t deny the results of taking the Garcinia three times a day.
So, add a supplement to your lunch too. Take it before the meals along with your forskolin supplement at breakfast and dinner, and at lunchtime take a Garcinia Cambogia by itself. Remember to always take your supplements with a full glass of water. Water will help you digest absorb the capsules much more easily and drinking more water is advised by healthcare professionals to improve your health and it can help you lose a few extra calories.
Remember to stick to the dosage guide, while Garcinia Cambogia has a much higher maximum dosage than our recommended dose, these are the doses studied successfully. Forskolin’s maximum dose is the 500mg daily. Going over the recommended or maximum doses is never advised; it isn’t worth the risks for a few extra pounds you may not lose (forskolin in higher doses was found not to make much difference).
Be assured that these two supplements are definitely safe to take together and actually make a good pair of supplements to try. They complement each other in weight loss and preventing weight gain and affect cholesterol and blood pressure – both common problems in people who are overweight.
When it comes to taking supplements for weight loss, you’re always going need to pair it with diet and exercise for maximum results. But taking two supplements can and will improve your weight loss efforts if taken properly if you follow our guide.
